Koalas

The koala is Australia’s national animal. They look like cute, cuddly teddy bears but they are not bears! These slow moving animals eat one only kind of food: leaves. Koalas are also noctural. This means they eat at night and sleep or rest during the day.

They are very good at climbing trees and like to sit on the branches to nap. They come down to the ground only when moving to a new tree, but because they move so slowly, this is when dogs can catch and hurt them. Sometimes they get hit by cars too, so trees are the safest place for them
