LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE
Last summer I was in my grandmother’s summer house with my family. One weekend my father took me and my sister to a park near our house. Unfortunately I fell off the swing and broke my arm so I couldn’t play video games or basketball with my friends. I started to feel very sad and I didn’t want to go out. My parents were worried about me and one day my father took me somewhere.
We went to a big garden and there was a group of children and their parents. They were standing around in a circle. First, one child started to laugh and then a few parents laughed. In a short time, everyone began to laugh and my father and I laughed a lot, too. No one talked about anything or made a joke but we all laughed for 30 minutes. My father told me: `Michael, the name of this practice is laughter therapy. When we laugh, our brain produces endorphin hormones and these hormones make people happy. Our mind and body feel good.`
I remembered my friends in my classroom. During the lessons, when one of my friends starts to laugh at something, others do the same and they laugh, too. Some doctors use this laughter therapy in hospitals because it helps patients to feel good and get well more quickly.
That day I enjoyed myself so much and this laughter therapy helped me to relax and forget my broken arm. I thanked my dad and asked him to have this therapy again and next time take my sister with us, too.
