Learning English Abroad

Learning English Abroad

A lot of people go to language courses to learn or improve their English, but sometimes they can’t decide which is better, going to a course or going abroad.

Even though it has disadvantages as well as advantages, personally I believe that learning English in America or England is better than learning in a language course.

First of all, you’re surrounded by the target language. You’re always with the native speakers of the language which is a great opportunity to practice the language you’re learning. If you go to a language course in your country, whenever you feel that you can’t talk about the topic of the lesson you directly switch to your native language. However, when you are abroad, you don’t have a chance to do that because nobody will understand you, so you force yourself to use the language.

Secondly, you learn the culture of the country you’re studying in. You will make new friends, find about the culture, traditions and the food of the country. In your free time you can visit the museums and have a city tour to get to know the place where you’re living. You will make new friends and socialize with different people.

The commonly known disadvantage of studying abroad is feeling homesick. Everybody feels lonely when they first leave their country and start living in a new place. But don’t worry, it will wear out as time passes and you make new friends. It also costs a lot of money to study abroad. You may need to find a part-time job for your expenses.

All in all, if you have money  and want to learn English, I highly recommend you go abroad.
