Leonardo Da Vinci as a Scientist
Leonardo Da Vinci was born in 1452. He is usually known as an artist for his masterpiece Mona Lisa, but he was also a very good scientist. He started painting at the age of 17. He also started paying attention to science at this age and he used science to make his paintings better. He started taking long walks and drawing everything he saw, such as rocks, caves and fossils. This is how his science career started. In the time he lived, many of the important scientific and mathematical discoveries weren’t made yet. That’s why some of his investigations failed. People usually got information from the Bible and the scientists before them. Then, the Scientific Revolution was started by Leonardo Da Vinci, whose scientific method was to study the world around us and experiment. His method was followed by many other scientists for centuries. He studied engineering and drew pictures of aeroplanes, submarines and bridges, but he wasn’t able to build them. He also studied anatomy for many years. A notebook full of drawings of human body parts was found. His books weren’t published for hundreds of years because he used mirror writing, which means that he wrote everything in the opposite way. They could be read normally using a mirror. Leonardo Da Vinci, who knew so much about so many different areas, was one of the smartest people in history.
