Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born in Los Angeles in 1974. He was named after Leonardo da Vinci because his pregnant mother was looking at a da Vinci painting in Italy when her baby first kicked. His mother got divorced a year after his birth and brought him up alone. He also lived with his maternal grandparents in Germany when he was a kid.

DiCaprio started his career making TV advertisements. In 1990 he appeared in several shows. In 1993 he starred in ‘The Boy’s Life’. That same year he starred alongside Johnny Depp in ‘What's Eating Gilbert Grape’. He was only 19 when his performance earned him an Academy Award nomination.

He shot to fame for his role in ‘Titanic’ in 1997. He became a Hollywood star after he acted in ‘Titanic’, which won 11 Oscars

In 2015, DiCaprio played in “The Revenant”, which was directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. DiCaprio's performance was appreciated by the critics. He earned numerous awards, including his first win at the Academy Awards in the Best Actor category, his eleventh nomination and third win at the Golden Globes in the Best Actor Drama category, and his first BAFTA award for Best Actor.
