Let’s Learn about Ömer Seyfettin

Ömer Seyfettin was a famous Turkish writer. He wrote many books for children. He was born in 1884 and died in 1920 when he was 36 years old. He started writing when he was a student and he wrote stories and poems. Most of his stories have surprise endings and that makes them more powerful. “Kaşağı”is one of his best children stories. In that story, there are two brothers. The little brother’s name is Hasan. The big brother breaks the currycomb that they use for horses but he says that Hasan did it. The boys’ father gets angry at Hasan because of this and sends Hasan to the barn. Hasan gets sick there and he dies because of an illness. The brother feels bad because he always thought Hasan died because of him. It is a story that all children should read. It shows it is very important to be honest.
