Life Changes!
When I first met LUKE…
…he was a second-year engineering student in Minnesota. There were three of us living in a flat. He was a hardworking student. He was a non-smoking, non-drinking fitness fanatic. He was so good at playing basketball that I thought he would become a famous player one day. He was very shy and could not talk to girls, believe it or not! Now Luke has become a successful engineer and works for a well known company. He still works hard, but he doesn’t play basketball due to his knee injury. He lives in the same city. Unfortunately, he has started smoking – he says it’s because of job stress. And he doesn’t feel shy around women anymore. Moreover, he has been dating a beautiful girl! I wish you lots of happiness, Luke!
When I first met JAMIE…
...he was engaged to a friend of mine. He was studying medicine in London. He was a non-smoker and used to get mad if we smoked. I remember he was only a few pounds overweight and was very handsome. He was an excellent cook. Whenever we met (and we used to meet often) he would cook excellent meals for us. Yum, especially his steaks were great! Now he has lost weight, and this has made him look more attractive. And he has broken his engagement to my friend. Guess what? He has also changed his career. He’s not working as a doctor anymore. He has left medicine and moved to Paris to become a chef. He works as an executive chef at an expensive restaurant, and his steaks haven’t changed at all!
When I first met CARLA…
…she was living in New York with her parents. She was a skinny girl although she used to eat burgers and junk food all the time. She had long dark hair. She was a heavy smoker. She was studying literature at university. I remember she didn’t do any sports. “I just don’t like sports,” she always said. Now Carla has become a literature teacher at a school in the same city after her parents moved. She lives on her own, and she looks completely different: she has short fair hair and has put on weight. But no, she is not fat and she looks healthier now. She has started working out twice a week. And I still can’t believe this burger addict has become a vegetarian, but it’s true!
