LIFE IN A COASTAL TOWN
The nights are drawing in and the leaves are tumbling from the trees... But a home by the sea never loses its appeal . Do you dream of moving to a house with a view of the waves where you can listen to the sounds of seagulls? Then a life on the coast could be for you. What’s more, studies have found that living near the sea can lead to better health. Britain is surrounded by the sea, so it is full of seaside towns. If you choose to live by the sea, expect to find sand on every surface: the fruit bowl, the wardrobe and, of course, between the sheets, so be ready for itchy nights. Still interested? Moving to a seaside town could be the smartest move you will make. Here are three of Britain’s best coastal towns.
Salcombe, Devon
Salcombe is surrounded by gorgeous sandy beaches and cliffs. This amazing town attracts thousands of tourists every year. The housing is quite expensive with some of the highest property prices outside London.
Southwold, Suffolk
“There’s the harbour, pier, sailing clubs, golf clubs, everything people really want,” says Adrian Smith. Southwold is a town with a limited number of properties, so expect to pay a high amount of money if you want a house by the sea - unless it’s a beach hut.
Bamburgh, Northumberland
Bamburgh is a beautiful village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. “The great appeal is the sophisticated boutique shops, restaurants and miles and miles of sandy beaches with next to nobody on them,” says Sam Gibson. There’s also a golf course, cricket pitch and a spectacular castle you will love.
