Life in the Past

Life in the Past

Yesterday I visited my grandmother. She talked about her life when she was a child. She lived in a small village with her family until her late teenage years. My grandmother is 85 years old now and she said there wasn’t even a dishwasher in their house. They were a large family with seven people. My grandmother was the oldest child, so she was responsible for washing the dishes. Every day she washed the dishes after breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, there wasn’t a washing machine. My grandmother said Sunday was their washing day. She washed all the family’s clothes with her mother. Of course, there was no telephone in their house. There was just one telephone in the whole village, and everybody needed to go there to call someone. There weren’t any MP3 players to listen to music. Some families were lucky because there was a radio in their house, but there was only one radio station to listen to. My grandmother said there was no technology when she was young, but everybody was very happy with their lives.
