LIFE ON A FILMSET
I’m David Blackfield. I’m a film director. One of the best things about working in the film industry is that you work on fun things all day long and you get to work with your friends. It’s a fun place with lots of joking. After all, we all leave the real world to have different and more exciting lifestyles where one day is usually never like the next. My day starts very early, and we generally have breakfast on set. Jim prepares our breakfast. He is a perfect cook. He can serve different kinds of things, which are very delicious. Depending on what your job is, you do different things to get ready. The camera department prepares the cameras. The make-up and hair stylists prepare the actors in the trailer. The grip and electric men set up the lighting. The director checks the scripts. The sound mixer sets up his equipment. When we start making a film, we don’t have a normal life. We have no chance to have lots breaks. We concentrate on the work and we sometimes work for days and days. We are so lucky that we have Jim with us. He feeds us while we are working hard.
