LIFE: THEN AND NOW

Life has always been complicated for most people. However, is it more or less challenging than it used to be? Well, focusing on lifestyle and new technology, we can say that things have changed a lot.

Back in the past people used to have candles and oil lamps for light. Now, candles are used mostly for romantic nights. These days every house has its own fridge but in the past, in order to keep the food fresh people used to put it in a box with a block of ice. Clothes used to be washed by hand but now we have washing machines.

Think about transportation. People used to travel everywhere on foot. Today, we use buses, cars, trains, subways and planes to move around.

Today we cannot imagine a world without the internet. Both young and old people use it for many different reasons. Now we can find any information via the internet in a few minutes but it wasn’t that easy to access information back in the past.

Family members used to gather and spend more time with each other, though. Listening to the radio, playing board games and cards, telling or reading each other stories were popular family activities at nights. Nowadays, family members play games on their own either on computers or mobile phones.
