LOCAL SUMMER FESTIVAL

1) Last week I did some really exciting activities at our local summer festival.

Each year there’s a list of things to do and you can try something different.

I tried a free workshop where I learnt to juggle with three balls. Before I started it,

I thought it would take ages to learn it. The workshop was for anybody over fourteen.

I went with a friend and we met lots of people our age. At the end of the workshop we performed on stage.

It was great fun and I didn’t drop the ball once!

2) I love magic and I was really pleased when I heard about a weekend festival of magic at our local theatre.

My dad likes magic too so he paid for my ticket. Today is the first day but it’s been great fun.

There were two performances by professional magicians and I had a lesson from one of them.

I learnt a complicated trick. We are going to perform it to an audience at the end of the festival.

Guess what else? I decided to be a professional magician too!

3) I’m really into rock music and I want to play the electric guitar. My town holds a pop and rock festival every year.

Last month, I was there. I saw some great bands.

Unlike previous years, there were special classes in rock guitar for secondary school children.

Rock guitar is really popular in my school so lots of my friends went there.

Every day we had a workshop with a professional musician and they didn’t cost anything.

We learnt to play a couple of easy songs and the musicians organised a concert for the end of the festival.

We decided to use the money we raised for new instruments for our school.
