LOST AND FOUND CAMERA

Erika Gunderson got into a taxi. While she was going home in the taxi, she saw that there was a Canon camera next to her. It was worth $500. She asked the driver about it but he didn’t know anything. So Gunderson took the camera. She showed it to her fiancé Brian Ascher. They decided to try and find the camera’s owner.

Ascher started looking at the photos and watching the videos. There were 350 photos and two videos. He noticed something about the voices on the video. They had Irish accents! He thought that the camera’s owner was from Ireland.

Ascher wrote on some Irish Web sites. He called the camera company in Ireland. But he could not find the owner.

Then, Ascher’s mother and sister examined the pictures for clues. The women noticed one photo of a doorman. He was helping someone go into a taxi. The doorman’s uniform showed that he worked at the Radisson Hotel but he couldn’t help them.

Ascher was not ready to quit searching. He carefully examined the photos one last time. Then, he noticed a detail. In the background of one of the photos was a restaurant. Ascher called the restaurant. He learned that an Irish group visited the restaurant that night. He discovered that a man named Alan Murphy had lost his camera.

Ascher mailed the camera to Murphy. Murphy was delighted. He got the camera on his birthday. He said it was the best present ever.
