Lucky John
John loved travelling more than anything. He always dreamt about travelling around the world and meeting new people. People always said “You are too young to travel by yourself.” He didn’t listen to them. In 2008, he graduated from high school, and he didn’t know what to study at university. He decided to travel around the world and choose where to study, but he needed money for that. To earn some money, he worked in many different places. He worked as a waiter in a café, a salesperson in a bookshop, and he even worked in a school canteen.
He finally saved enough money. He immediately went to a ticket sales agency. He bought a flight ticket to Vietnam. The flight was for next Wednesday. He was so excited! He ran through the streets of London and stopped at King Cross Station to get on the subway. When he got home, he wanted to show his ticket to his parents. He checked his pocket, but couldn’t find the ticket. He checked his bag, too. It was not there either! His dad said, “Maybe you dropped it on the way back home”. John unhappily agreed. He went back to the subway station in his neighbourhood to look for the ticket on the ground. He couldn’t find it. He was so unhappy and decided to go back home. Then, he saw the security guard at the station. He asked “Excuse me, did you find a flight ticket with the name John Vista on it? I think I dropped my ticket to Vietnam here.” The guard said, “Can I see your ID card, please?” John showed him his ID card. Then, the guard smiled and took the ticket from the drawer next to him. He said, “Someone found it and brought it to me five minutes ago. You are a luck boy! Still, be careful!”
John nodded happily, and said “Thank you so much!”.
