MEET THE REAL LIFE X-MEN!
X-Men is a sci-fi superhero team appearing in Marvel comic books. In the Marvel universe, X-Men can create ice formations, control minds or burn things with beams coming out of their eyes. Unfortunately, for comic book fans, those things don’t exist in the real world. However, some people have certain superpowers. Now let’s meet some of the world’s true super-humans!
(1)............ : Wim Hof, 57, is a Dutch daredevil. With just mind control, he can regulate his body temperature. This helps him endure cold temperatures. Wim holds an impressive 26 world records. They include a world record for longest ice bath - 1 hour 13 minutes and 48 seconds - and running a marathon above the Arctic Circle. And he was wearing only shorts! In fact, Wim does a lot of things with only shorts. He can climb the highest mountains on Earth. He can also run barefoot in the snow for hours.
(2)............ : The Bajau Laut people, from south-east Asia, spend all their lives on the ocean. Generations of living underwater have given them some abilities. They have superb eyesight under water; they can see clearly without goggles. They are great free divers; they can dive up to 20 meters for five minutes without breathing apparatus. Perhaps even more incredible, Bajau Laut children learn to swim before they can even walk; and they can swim like fish.
(3)............ : Liam Hoekstra from Michigan in the US, was born five weeks earlier than he should and doctors worried about his size. But when the boy was five months old, he developed superhuman strength. He was able to walk at that age and he could support his body weight on his arms. In fact, Liam has a special genetic condition. His muscles grow so fast and he has no body fat. This genetic condition turns Liam into a superboy. He can run like the wind. He has the quickness of a cat. He can lift huge weights. He can climb ropes without difficulty. And he eats like there is no tomorrow, without gaining weight!
