Megalodon

Megalodon

How much do you know about sharks? Many people are scared of them! We know that sometimes they kill humans or eat their arms and legs. They also have big, sharp teeth. But guess what? There was something much bigger and more dangerous — the Megalodon. Let’s look at the facts.

They were the largest shark ever. – Megalodon could grow up to 21 meters long.

They had giant teeth. – The name Megalodon comes from the Greek words megas (big) and odont (teeth). Only the T-Rex and Saber Tooth Tiger had bigger teeth.

They ate whales. – Megalodons ate many different types of whales and it could also eat smaller Megalodons.

They died because the water temperature changed. – When the water in the oceans became colder, Megalodons couldn’t survive. They moved to warmer waters but their food (whales) stayed in the cold water.

There were thousands of Megalodons. – We know this because scientists found many teeth.

Some scientists believe there are still Megalodons deep in the ocean. Sometimes people report seeing giant sharks but that idea is difficult to prove. Let’s think about it this way, would you like to go swimming in the same sea as a Megalodon? Not many people would say yes!
