Mexico

Mexico

Hi, my name is Davinia. Last week I went on a holiday to Mexico with my family.
We flew down to see a wedding. My cousin, Sam, got married at a hotel in Cancun, Mexico.
The next day we went to the beach and the wedding was there. Everything was as beautiful as a fairy tale.

After the wedding finished, my family and I started our holiday!  We spent several days at the beaches.
They were amazing. The sand was as white as clouds, and the water was a bright turquoise.
I saw lots of colourful fish but wasn’t close enough to take good underwater pictures.
I went snorkelling, and my parents went to water skiing.  I rented a boogie board and swam in the waves.
The waves were too gentle.  Boogie boarding was a little boring.

We visited some ancient Maya ruins in Chichen Itza. This was a huge city about one thousand years ago.
The main step pyramid is the Temple of
Kukulkan.  It’s 55 meters high. The sides are very steep!
They were too afraid to climb up, so only my dad and I went. Each face of the pyramid is 45 degrees.
It took a long time to climb up them! Here’s a picture.

Another interesting place we visited was Isla Mujeres. The beaches were nice, but I loved the turtle farms!
People visit and take photos of the turtles all year.  That visit was my favourite part of our trip.
