MODERN DAY ECCENTRIC: LADY GAGA
Eccentric and unique, American pop-star Lady Gaga is one of the most famous musicians of the 21st century.
Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta was born on March 28, 1986 in Yonkers, New York. Today, the world knows her as “Lady Gaga” – the name she created inspired by Queen’s song “Radio Ga-Ga”.
Gaga had a difficult youth. Her friends in school made fun of her for being too eccentric. She felt like a freak – that she didn’t fit in. She started playing the piano at the age of 4 and she took part in musical theatres and school plays. No matter what happened in her social life, she cared for her family the most: “I’m a real family girl. When it comes to love and loyalty, I am very old-fashioned and I am quite down-to-earth for such an eccentric person. I’m quite traditional in the family sense.”
Apart from being an eccentric singer and performer, she also does a lot of charity work and helps various relief efforts by donating millions of dollars to the victims.
She launched the “Born This Way” foundation in 2012. This foundation focuses on empowering young people and helps them with issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development. She is on the list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women and Time Magazine named her as one of the most influential people in the world. So apart from being eccentric, she is also a very intelligent and caring artist.
Gaga has a natural talent in music. She writes and composes all her own songs and she also writes lyrics and composes music for other famous stars like Britney Spears, Akon, Jennifer Lopez and Fergie. Since the beginning of her musical career, she has won many awards and helped other stars with their musical accomplishments. Lady Gaga is also a record breaker. She holds four records in the Guinness World Records.
Apart from her musical career, Gaga leads an interesting life. She refuses to wear trousers, she loves bowling, and she designs clothes.
She really enjoys keeping busy with her fans whom she calls “Little Monsters”. She runs a website for her fans!
