MONKEYS
Once upon a time there were two monkeys. The Monkey of the East lived in the east of
the forest, and the Monkey of the West lived in the west of the forest. They always met
in the middle. They were stubborn and they always wanted to get the same bananas.
One day the Monkey of the East pushed the other with a big amount of force and made
him fall. The monkey was hurt and cried. He was also very angry. “You will see! I will
hurt you as you hurt me,” said the Monkey of the West and he made some plans.
The next day he woke up very early and took a bucket, some water and a rope. He
reached the middle of the forest, climbed up a tree and set his trap. He filled the bucket
with some water and pulled the bucket up the tree with the rope. When the Monkey
of the East came he said, “I found a beautiful banana here. I will take it before you!”
The Monkey of the East started to climb up the tree to get the banana before him. The
Monkey of the West let the rope go. The bucket fell on the monkey’s head. He was wet
and angry.
The Monkey of the West said “Enough fighting! I’m sorry. From now on I want to be
your friend. There are lots of bananas in this forest. We can stop being stubborn and
start sharing them.” The Monkey of the East said “You are right! We don’t have to fight
anymore.” From that day they stopped fighting for bananas and they became friends.
