Musical Instrument Families

Robin is a young boy, and he has always wanted to play a musical instrument. He thought it was the right time to start, so he searched for information about different musical instruments. He learned that there are four musical instrument families: string, woodwinds, brass, and percussion.

String instruments make musical sounds when their strings vibrate. The violin, cello, guitar, and erhu are some of the instruments in this family. Woodwinds are like a tube and make a sound when the air inside them vibrates. The bassoon, clarinet, flute, and panpipes belong to this instrument family. Brass instruments make musical sounds when someone blows air into the instrument and the player’s lips vibrate. Trumpet, trombone, tuba, and didgeridoo are the instruments that belong to this family. Percussion instruments make sounds when someone hits them. A drum set, xylophone, tambourine, maracas, and djembe are some examples of percussion instruments.

Robin liked all the instruments. They all looked very attractive to him, but he liked the percussion instruments most. He found a shop that sells percussion instruments. He went there and bought a drum set. Now he has the instrument, but there is one thing left! He needs to find someone to teach him how to play the drum set.
