MY NEW LIFE

I have been in London for three years. I used to study German when I was in my home country, so I had a hard time understanding British people at first. I couldn’t find a job in my field because I did not speak English well. Then I attended a language school for a year. In fact, learning English is easier than learning German. I spoke English every day at school, with my neighbours, and even with my boyfriend. We used to speak Turkish with my boyfriend when we first arrived, but now we speak English all the time. His English is pretty good.

For the past two years, I have been attending a law school for an equivalency diploma in London. Now that I speak English well, I am ready to find a job and work as a paralegal until I finish school. A paralegal is kind of an assistant lawyer in a law firm. Working as a paralegal will definitely be useful as I will get the chance to experience basic law practice.

I used to be an attorney at law before I moved to London. When my boyfriend decided to move to London, he asked
me to go with him too. It was easier for him as he was an engineer and good at English. But it’s more difficult for a lawyer to work abroad since each country has its own law rules and regulations.
