MY OWN HOUSE
Jennifer Fairley was born in a town called Bournemouth in England. She was the third child in her family and they weren’t rich. She moved to London in 2013. When she lived in Bournemouth, she had a dream. She wanted to have her own house – not an apartment. She wanted a house with a nice garden. When she moved to London, her dream moved with her.
Jennifer needed money to buy a house, but she didn’t have any. She didn’t even have a job. She decided to make a plan and follow it to her dream.
She worked really hard. She never finished school in Bournemouth so she studied for the final exams in the UK. She passed it! Then she needed to find a job. She found two jobs! During the week she worked as a secretary at a big company and at weekends she worked as a shop assistant at a department store. Her life was very tiring but she didn’t mind that. Every month, she saved some money.
She was very careful not to spend too much money. She would have her breakfast and lunch at school. She would take some extra food from lunch and eat that for dinner. Sometimes she found eating the same food twice very boring but she never complained. She would only go to the cinema on Sunday nights because tickets were the cheapest then.
Finally in 2016, Jennifer saved enough money to buy a house. It wasn’t very big but she loved it. It was just perfect for her.
Today Jennifer still works at the office on weekdays but she doesn’t work at weekends. She says “ I just want to enjoy my house now. I don’t even go out at the weekend. When I remember old days, I feel glad that I worked that much. I didn’t even have time for my friends but it was worth it. Now I invite my friends to my wonderful house so that we can spend time together.’
