MY TRIP TO ROME
A - ............... Last month, I went to Rome with one of my best friends. We stayed there for a week. It was the best holiday I have ever had. We stayed in a hotel that was cheap but clean. We went sightseeing every day, and we tried the local food. We saw a lot of historic buildings.
B - ............... On our first day, we visited the Colosseum, also known as the Flavian Amphitheatre. When it was used as a theatre, 55,000 people could sit on the tiered seating that encircled the arena. They sat according to their status and class in the society. They didn’t only watch plays in the Colosseum but also watched gladiators fighting wild animals. I liked the place because it made me feel as if I was one of those gladiators in the arena. It was like a dream. I love watching films and reading books about ancient life in Rome and Greece, so it was an exciting visit for me.
C- ............... The next day we went to the Vatican. It’s located within the borders of Rome but it is the smallest government in the world. Only 800 people live in this small country. We walked through the Vatican gardens. The Vatican Gardens are quiet and they are surrounded by walls.
D- ............... We also visited the Vatican museums, which display masterpieces of painting, sculpture and other works of art collected by the popes through the centuries. The museums are usually open to the public every weekday morning and in the early afternoon in summer. Entry is free on the last Sunday of every month.
E- ............... I would definitely recommend you see Rome. Firstly, it is full of historic buildings and structures. Secondly, the food is awesome! You should eat pizza every single day! Finally, the people are very friendly and helpful. You can make lots of new friends.
