Mysterious burglary

Mysterious burglary

There was a burglary in our neighbourhood last night. A detective is investigating. It seems that the burglars broke into Mr. Sheldon’s apartment at some time between seven and eight o’clock in the evening, because it was the only time that he was away yesterday.

Mrs. Andrews, a neighbour, was hanging clothes at her balcony at the time, but she didn’t notice anything suspicious. There aren’t any other witnesses.

The burglars messed up Mr. Sheldon’s apartment and the detective is having a hard time looking for evidence. The only thing that is missing is a valuable, antique golden watch, which Mr. Sheldon had inherited from his late father.

Mr. Sheldon puts the blame on his brother, Alfred Sheldon. He says that Alfred had always been envious, because their father had not left the precious watch to him. Mr. Sheldon cannot prove this though. Will the detective solve the mystery? Is Alfred Sheldon guilty or innocent?
