They have turned to natural remedies especially to fight some common diseases such as colds, upset stomachs and headaches. According to the report published in 2007 by the National Center for Health Statistics, 4 out of 7 people trusted and used natural remedies for ailments. However, not all the natural remedies are safe or effective. There are some common beliefs or applications among people that are not really good for the human body. Some herbs or vitamin supplements are not really that safe and some of them do not even meet the safety standards of Ministry of Health. People tend to think that if something is herbal, then it is beneficial. This is a common misbelief. Some of these remedies may even interact with other prescribed medications. That’s why experts recommend talking with a doctor before trying a natural remedy. Here are some of the natural remedies that are safe and virtually efficient:

 

Probiotics

Probiotics are friendly bacteria and they may serve as good defendants against some bad organisms in a person’ intestinal tract. These bad bacteria mostly cause diarrhea. Although antibiotics are prescribed by doctors to fight bacterial infections, they sometimes harm the natural balance of the intestines. When good bacteria are eliminated, then other bad bacteria are growing out of control and attacking the lining of the intestine. The result: diarrhea. However, researchers still haven’t figured out which probiotics work best. There are some yoghurt drinks that are sold as probiotics. People say that those ones work well to heal stomach and intestine ailments.

Cranberry juice for urinary tract infections

Some research results have proved that cranberry juice may regularly prevent urinary infections. These infections are mostly caused by bad bacteria living in the intestines. Cranberries contain certain compounds that are thought to stop infection-causing bacteria. So it is worth to try!

Cinnamon to control blood sugar

Cinnamon is considered as a natural ingredient that can control blood sugar level and fats. Some studies have shown that this is true. However there are some doctors who do not agree with that. Some people who actually tried it found out that it is really effective. They felt themselves better after adding cinnamon to their diets. It is also worth to try since cinnamon has no side-effects.
