New Year around the World
Everybody celebrates the New Year in a different way. In the USA, people watch the big party on
television. There is a big crystal ball that drops at midnight. People cheer happily. In Brazil, people wear white
clothes. They watch fireworks. In Spain, people celebrate with their families. At midnight, people eat 12 grapes
for good luck. In Africa, women wear colourful clothes. People dance in the streets. In China, people wear red
clothes for good luck. Some men wear dragon costumes. In Australia, there are firework shows. People watch
them with their families. People have fun on New Year’s Day.
