New York Trip

New York Trip

We went to New York City last summer. It was so cool to see all those famous buildings from the movies. We did so many fun things. Walking is really easy in New York because the sidewalks are really big and the streets are numbered (First Street, Second Street, Third Street, etc.). I didn’t realise how confusing the streets in my city are until I went to New York. On the first day, we went to the top of the Empire State Building. Did you know you can see the Statue of Liberty from the Empire State Building? Then we went to Times Square. I wanted to walk, but my sister was tired, so we took a taxi. There were a lot of huge screens and lights there, but it was so crowded! It was really stressful, and I just wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Then we took the subway to see an art gallery in Chelsea. New York City’s subway system is gigantic! You can take the train to every part of the city, but you have to change trains a lot. It’s confusing, and the stations are hot and smell really bad. The trains are clean and comfortable, though. My mum loves art, so we went to ten art galleries. They are really small and all on the same street, so you can see lots of them. One of the galleries was empty except for a pile of leaves. Is that art?
The next day, we took the subway across a bridge to see a baseball game. I didn’t understand the sport at all, and it was really slow. Most of the baseball is standing around and waiting for the game to start again. My dad loved the game, but he loves boring things, anyway. I wanted to take a ferry boat back to Manhattan, but there are no ferry boats in New York.
