NextFest Fair- The Inventions of the Future
NextFest fair, which enabled students to see tomorrow’s world, was held in 2006, in New York. Kids had a chance to talk to robots, see vehicles for underwater use, and real size video games. These were some of the 150 creations. The fair lasted four days. During this fair, inventors had a chance to present their newly created gadgets. Some of them were still being worked on. Here are some gadgets that got our attention;
a. .........................................................
There was an actroid, which is a robot designed to look and talk like a human, just to greet people. While she was talking, she was using her body and making eye-contact like a real human being. Some other versions of her could reply to more than one hundred questions like “How are you?” and “Are you a real person?”
b. .........................................................
Do you have any idea about how to live like a sea animal? Thanks to the bionic dolphin in the fair, people figured it out. The speed of the machine was 80mph across the water. It could also dive 10 feet. Thomas Rowe, the inventor of the bionic dolphin, added wings to it to make it fly under water up to 40mph. Rowe told the people that he had done most of hisresearch on dolphins, penguins and diving birds. He also mentioned that the bigger version of this vehicle had been created to save people lost at sea.
c. .........................................................
In the fair, there was a wall which incorporated music, rock climbing and video games at the same time. It was called DigiWall. The project leader Mats Liljedahl mentioned that his aim was to combine computer games with people’s physical activity.
