Oceans

An ocean is a huge body of salty water. Oceans cover nearly all the world. They are very deep. They are homes to thousands of different creatures and plants. Some oceans have got tall mountains and volcanoes under them.

Where are the oceans?

Our world is round. It’s like a ball. Many oceans are in the Southern Hemisphere. The Southern Hemisphere is all of the planet south of the equator. There are five oceans in our planet. They are the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Southern Ocean and the Arctic Ocean. Some scientists call the Southern Ocean the Antarctic Ocean.
