The Olympic Games are the biggest sports event in the world. The last one was in Rio in 2016. Just look how many new records were set!

Lasha Talakhadze from Georgia won the weightlifting competition. He lifted heavier weights than anyone else. They were 473kg. That’s as heavy as a grand piano! He’s probably the strongest man in the world.

Kim Woo-Jin from Korea got the highest ever score in archery. She scored 700 points. She’s the best archer in the world.

Anita Wlodarczyk from Poland won the hammer throw. She can throw the hammer the furthest. In fact, she threw it nearly 90 metres!

Michael Phelps is a swimmer. He didn’t break any records, but he won 5 more gold medals. He raced at four Olympics and now he has won the most gold medals of any Olympic competitor: 23 in total!

The person with the most athletics medals is Usain Bolt. He is from Jamaica. He won three gold medals this time. That means he won 9 in his life. He is the fastest person of all time. He can run 100m in 9.58 seconds.
