One of the Oldest British Legends
Many years ago, the lands of Scotland, in the British Isles, were not as they are today. A floating piece of land collided into the Northern most part of Great Britain and attached itself. The dinosaurs were big and clumsy. Therefore, it was no surprise that dreamy Nessie got stuck in one of the deepest lakes and could not escape. This lake, Loch Ness, became her home as it is so deep that The Statue of Liberty could dive in quite happily and not have to worry about hitting her head on the bottom.
For many centuries, Nessie lived quite comfortably in this food rich water. She occasionally ventured out into the surrounding mountains or popped her head out of the cloudy pool. All was well, until in 1933 a road was built along the side of the lake. The noise was incredible and the vibrations of all the heavy machines disturbed Nessie. As if this wasn’t enough, the traffic then started to come and daily tourists were a real nuisance . One day, when Nessie was walking across the road, a young couple from London saw her. After that, her peace and quiet was a thing of the past. Scientists poured into Scotland and started to explore the lake to try and find our Nessie. She was shy and hid in the deepest part of the water. Money was promised if anyone could catch her and she was constantly worried for her safety. Everyone who said they had seen her gave a different description of her. Although she felt unsafe, she didn’t want to abandon her home. Many people said she came and went through mysterious tunnels that connected to the sea. Others thought that she was the mother of several youngsters, but where was the father?
