Our Lucky Escape

Our Lucky Escape

Last April, the weather was really rainy. One afternoon, I visited my friend Richard and I was sitting in Richard’s living room. Richard and I were listening to music and playing computer games.

We were talking about the terrible weather, and Richard’s mum was watching the storm. Then suddenly it happened! The music stopped, the computer stopped working and we were in the dark! We looked through the window, and we saw that there were no lights in any of the houses on the street. Then water started coming under the door and into the house! It was a flood! Soon there were about sixty centimetres of water in the room. And it was still raining outside. We were cold and wet, and we were feeling a bit frightened. Richard’s mum and I ran up the stairs to their neighbour’s house.

When the rain stopped, there were two metres of water in the street. Our neighbours were talking about what to do, and then we heard someone shouting to us;  “Maggy, I am here to help you!”. My dad and another man were in a boat! He was there to rescue us. We all felt really happy to see him. We climbed through the window and into the boat. Soon we were at my uncle’s house safe and warm again!
