PHOBIAS
Petrified of the creepy-crawlies? Afraid of slithering snakes? Well, good news is you’re not the only one. The Association of Psychiatrists and Psychologists released a research report that says phobias are the most common mental illness among women and the second most common among men. The research shows that every year 15% of British adults are affected by phobias. These phobias generally appear during childhood or teenage years and continue to adulthood. They also impact twice as many women as they do men.
There are some theories about why phobias develop but we still do not know for sure. But, whatever the cause is, phobias are treatable or their effects can be minimized with therapy and medication.
