Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray is a famous bank in the USA and it publishes a report every year. They published a report in 2014 about teenagers and their spending habits. It contains some very interesting facts. According to the report:
1. Teens spend most of their money on clothes and food. They spend 20% of their money on food.
2. They get most of their pocket money from their parents.
3. Their favourite brand is Nike. Nearly 22% of the teenagers prefer Nike.
4. Teens like to shop online and their favourite websites for online shopping are Amazon, Nike and eBay. Nearly 32% of them choose to buy from Amazon.
5. Surprisingly, most teenagers follow Instagram as their social network. Nearly 80% follow Instagram, 70% follow Twitter and only 40% are on Facebook.
6. 67% of the teenagers own iPhone products.
Of course this report is only about the super-rich, rich or average teenagers in the USA. There are many other teenagers around the world like in Nigeria or India. They don’t have enough money. They cannot buy clothes or mobile phones. They do not go to school because they work and earn money for their families. They don’t know about social networking or brands like Nike because they don’t have a computer or internet connection. They live under very difficult conditions. Maybe it’s time to think about these people before we say “I want a new mobile phone.” Or “I don’t like these shoes, I want a new pair.”
