POACHING

POACHING

Poaching is defined as killing animals by violating local, state or international laws. The following activities are classified as poaching:

• Killing an animal out of season

• Killing an animal without a licence

• Killing an animal with a prohibited weapon

• Killing an animal in prohibited manner such as jacklighting to trick animals to gather in a certain area in the hope of finding food or security

• Killing a protected species

• Killing an animal while trespassing

• Taking off eggs or babies of endangered species

• Preventing animals from reaching their food source , blocking their immigration routes

One of the most common reasons why people kill wildlife illegally is to possess rare animal products such as ivory and fur. Some other people kill unlawfully for food, pleasure and trophies. In some countries, like China, poaching is done to make money because there is a high demand for ivory and fur all around the world. In some cases, poaching is done because of poverty because that is the only way people provide food for their families. In some places, people do this, because they simply do not care about hunting regulations.
