Polar Bears
Polar bears are strong and beautiful animals. They live in places with cold temperatures. Many polar bears live in the Arctic. The arctic is the northernmost place in the world. It is always cold and there is always snow there. Polar bears make their homes in the snow. This makes them different from other bears. Other bears make their homes in forests or in the mountains.
Polar bears are carnivores. They catch and eat fish from the sea. Polar bears weigh around 1,200 pounds.
They are bigger than other bears.
Female polar bears usually have two cubs at a time.
Polar bear cubs live with their mother for about three years. During this time, they learn how to find and catch food. They also learn how to live in cold weather.
Scientists are worried about polar bears because their numbers are going down. Their numbers are going down because of climate change. Climate change means the temperatures are going up, but it is not normal. Climate change melts the ice in the Arctic so polar bears cannot live. They need cold weather, snow and ice to live. Many scientists are looking for ways to save these wonderful animals.
