Pollution

Pollution

People have always polluted their surroundings. However, until recently, pollution was not such a serious problem. In the past, most people lived in uncrowded rural areas and didn’t have machines that polluted the environment. With the development of crowded industrial cities, the problem of pollution has become more important. Using automobiles and other machines made pollution steadily worse. Since the 1950s, people have become alarmed by the dangers of polluting the environment.

Air, water and soil are necessary for the existence of all living things. However, polluted air can cause illnesses and even death. Polluted water kills fish and other marine life. On polluted soil, crops can’t be grown. In addition, environmental pollution spoils the natural beauty of our planet.

Pollution is a very complicated and serious problem. Automobiles are polluting the air, but they provide fast transportation for the people. Plants and factories pollute the air and water, but they provide jobs for people and produce necessary goods. Fertilizers and pesticides are important for growing crops, but they pollute soil.

If people wanted to end pollution immediately, they would have to stop using many useful things, and the problem is that most of them don’t agree to do that. Pollution can be reduced in time if people start working together to tackle it. Scientists and engineers can find the ways to reduce pollution from automobiles and factories. Governments can pass necessary laws, and individuals and groups of people can work together to stop polluting the environment.
