PREHISTORIC ANIMALS
Lisa: What are you reading, John?
John: I’m reading a book about prehistoric animals.
Lisa: Prehistoric animals? What does that mean?
John: It means animals that lived before we humans started writing history.
Do you want to see some of them?
Lisa: Sure. Wow! Look at these animals. Looks like they were huge.
John: Yes, they were. For example, the ground sloth was 1,000 kilograms and 4 metres tall.
It lived about 10,000 years ago.
Lisa: Wow! How about this animal? It looks strange!
John: It’s called the doedicurus. It lived around 11,000 years ago.
Some scientists believe that it was 2,000 kilograms. It had a long and strong tail.
Lisa: Can I borrow your book?
John: Sure. But let me finish reading it first!
