ROBO-BEES
Nobody can deny that life has changed incredibly.
We could hardly imagine that robots would take our place for most of the daily chores.
It was kind of a smooth pass from a manual life to an automatic one thanks to the kitchen appliances like dishwasher or espresso machine. However, robotics have gone wild and they have created so many crazy robots that look and even act like human beings. Technology is surprising us more and more every other day.
Some of the ideas are forcing the capacity of our imagination just like robobees.
A group of Harvard scientists have a vision: to build a tiny robot that can fly, work together in groups,
and even pollinate flowers like a honeybee.
“The 80-milligram robot can fly to a surface, perch on it using electrostatic forces,
and gently take off from that surface — saving valuable energy in the process”, said Farell Helbling,
a PH.D. candidate in Harward University. They are actually very cute and tiny robots.
They are also created fast and agile just like the real bees in order to perform quick movements.
The best thing with the robo-bees is that they can both work individually or in groups.
Scientists think that these bees could be invaluable for the search and rescue missions.
They can also help pollinate corps and flowers just like real bees. As we know today, however,
robo-bees still need a lot of work and they are still connected to little vires and attached to a power source.
After all the tests and researches applied, they will be one of the greatest inventions of our era undoubtedly.
