ROLES OF A FILM CREW
There are many people in a film crew and they have different responsibilities. Here are some of these:
• Director: The director is responsible for the overall look and feel of the movie. A director has to be the creative force behind a motion picture.
• Casting Director: The casting director has to find actors for the necessary roles. Sometimes the actors have to attend an audition for their part. He/she doesn’t have to pay them. He’s actually the person who decides the stars to act in the films.
• Location Manager: The location manager deals with the details about the location. He/she has to find a proper studio or an outdoor place to shoot the scenes.
• Production Manager: The production manager has to deal with the budget. He/she is responsible for all the money spent. Also, he has to inform the financial supporters about the expenses.
• Director of Photography/Cinematographer: The director of photography designs and coordinates the picture and lighting of the film. He/she has to work closely with the director.
• Production Designer: The production designer creates the look of the setting and costumes. He/she has to choose appropriate clothes for the scenes.
• Director of Audiography: The director of audiography has to design the sound and music. He/she sometimes has to create new sounds and soundtracks for the film.
• Camera Operator: A camera operator uses the camera and films the scenes. He/she has to listen to the director but sometimes he has to decide on the lighting him/herself.
• Choreographer: The choreographer creates and coordinates the movement and dance. However, sometimes he/she has to show some moves. Of course, he doesn’t have to teach people how to dance.
