Hi! I am Cindy from Lincoln Elementary School and I am in the rugby team of the school. People always think that rugby is a harsh sport so it is suitable just for men. I never agreed with this idea since there are so many famous and successful female rugby players in the world. Here I want to give you some information about some of them. They are very important for me since they show that women can play rugby as well as men. When I am demotivated by the people around me, I always read their biographies and they always motivate me.

Let me start with Rochelle Clark who is an English female rugby union player. She is a legend in rugby since she represented England at the 2010 Women’s Rugby World Cup and 2014 World Cup in France. The second one is Portia Woodman who started her sporting career as a netball player. She started to play rugby in 2012 and her team won the World Cup Sevens in Russia in 2013. The third rugby player is Margaret Alphonsi. She is one the most famous names in women’s sport including rugby. She started her sport career in athletics and in 2010 she was awarded as the Times Sportswoman of the year and this is one of the reasons that I appreciate her a lot as a female rugby player. In her sports career, she had the chance to take part in three World Cups. Now, she is doing her coaching career in rugby. The last one that I want to mention is Ana Poghosian, from Georgia. She has an important role in my rugby career too. In the past rugby wasn’t common in her country, but she didn’t make it a big issue and she never gave up. Now, she is one of the most well-known rugby players in the world. She was also the captain of her team. She is a very good role model for all the girls who want to have a professional rugby career.
