RULES

RULES

There are rules in all societies. For example, there are rules for traffic lights. When the traffic light is green, cars can move but when the traffic light is red, cars have to stop. When you don’t follow a rule, police can stop you and ask you to pay money. Rules have many reasons. The most important reason is safety. For example, when people don’t follow the traffic light rules, there may be accidents and more traffic. We also have social rules. For example, when you ask someone to help carry something for you, you should say ‘’thank you’’. When you don’t say thank you, people may think you are rude. We also have rules to make things fair. For example, when there is a spelling competition, a grade 3 class shouldn’t compete against a grade 8 class. This is not fair because grade 8 students are older and know how to spell better. We also have rules for games. For example, in football you can’t carry the ball and throw it in the goal. To score a goal, you have to kick the ball. Life can be very difficult and dangerous without rules. But sometimes too many rules can be bad.
