Rules at the Airport
Sheila: Hi Mark. I need your help.
Mark: Hi Sheila. How can I help you?
Sheila: Well, I’m going to travel to the USA.
Mark: Wow! Cool! Do you need money?
Shelia: No, thanks. I need your advice. This is my first trip alone and it’s also my first time travelling by plane. I don’t know about the rules at the airport or on the plane. Can you tell me some of the rules, please?
Mark: Sure. First of all, when you arrive at the airport, you must go through the security. Put your bags on the carousel and your luggage will go through a screening device. Then, you must go through the security gates. When the security officer asks you to open your bags, you must open them.
Sheila: Will they ask me to open my bags after screening?
Mark: Yes, but not always. After this step, you must go to the check-in counter to check in your bags and get your boarding pass. Don’t forget your passport! It’s very important. After you get your boarding pass, you must give your passport to the officers who control international flights. They put a stamp on your passport, and then you can go through the security again. After the security, you will go to your gate. You must be on time for your flight!
Sheila: Thanks so much, Mark. You’re great! I’ll call you when I need help at the airport.
