Save Coral Reefs

Save Coral Reefs

Coral reefs are beautiful and colourful ocean habitats where millions of fish and other sea animals live. However, 30% of the world’s coral reefs are endangered. Scientists say that, in 30 years, it will be 50%. There are three main causes of the coral endangerment; global warming, overfishing and water pollution. With global warming, the oceans get warmer and that harms the corals. Secondly, people fish more than necessary and while fishing they use chemicals, which destroy coral reefs. Finally, water pollution makes it difficult for corals to grow.

What can we do to prevent the coral reef extinction? To stop global warming, we can use wind and solar energy instead of gas. Also, we can stop overfishing and use natural ways of fishing instead of harmful chemicals. Lastly, to prevent water pollution, we should stop spilling cooking oil and harmful chemicals into the drain and collect them in a different place. Coral reefs are home to millions of organisms. We don’t have the right to cause their disappearance.
