SAVE ENERGY

Japanese citizens and companies have been asked by the government to make efforts to be more conscientious about the amounts of energy they use.

Many government institutions have taken measures to save power. For instance, air conditioning usage has been reduced in offices and schools. Many employees are asked not to turn on the air-con below 27 degrees even on hot summer days.

A Tokyo based company has come up with an odd request. 2.700 employees have been ordered to have identical hairstyles in a construction firm in Japan. The company has requested that men to have a short back-and-sides while women have been asked to wear a ‘cute’ bob with a fringe that can be swept to one side.

The company’s extraordinary order is to help the country save energy. According to the company, if people have short hair, the usage of water and hair driers can decrease so it may help to protect the environment. The firm believes that in this way employees can have environment- friendly habits.
