SCIENTISTS UNDER THE SEA
James and Sarah are two scientists. They don’t work in a laboratory, though. They live on the Galapagos Islands. They study the many fish and animals that live in the ocean there.
Sarah: I love sharks. Sharks are easily my favourite animals. We can find many species of sharks here. Usually I see Reef Sharks and Whale Sharks. Whale Sharks are bigger than Reef Sharks. Both of them are safe. There are also Hammerhead Sharks, and I sometimes see them. They have strangely shaped heads. They aren’t dangerous either. There are also Galapagos Sharks. Galapagos Sharks are more dangerous than the other sharks. You have to be careful if you see one.
James: I don’t like sharks at all. I like fish. I like working here because there are fish everywhere! My favourite fish is the Parrotfish. It is cuter than the others because of its colours – blue, yellow, orange, green and pink. Parrotfish eat coral. They crunch it like popcorn! They are noisier than the other fish because they eat so loudly.
We have to take care of the ocean, because if we aren’t careful, all these beautiful creatures will die out.
