SHAPES ARE ALL AROUND US

SHAPES ARE ALL AROUND US

Mr Winston is our English teacher. He is tall and has got short brown hair and green eyes. He is very good at teaching English. Today, he is teaching us the shapes around us. It is very interesting!

Mr Winston: There are shapes everywhere! Some of them are 2D shapes and some of them are 3Ds. Who knows the differences between 2D shapes and 3D shapes?

Angelica: I know, Mr Winston. 2D shapes are two-dimensional. They have weight and height, but 3D shapes have depth, also.

Mr Winston: Well done, Angelica. Can you give us an example?

Angelica: Of course! A circle is a two-dimensional shape. This music CD is a circle, but a sphere is a three-dimensional shape. This ball is a sphere.

Mr Winston: Excellent! How about this party hat? What shape is it?

Max: It looks like a cone.

Mr Winston: Perfect! Look at this soda can! Can you guess its shape?

Ellen: I know, Mr Watson. It’s a cylinder.

Mr. Winston: Good job, Ellen! There are tents in this picture. Do you know what shape they are?

Jeremy: They are pyramids!

Mr Winston: Cool! I have a dice. Who knows its shape?

Andy: I know! It’s a cube shape.

Mr Winston: Well done, kids! You did a great job!
