Snakes and Ladders
Andrew: What are you playing, Carla?
Carla: I’m playing online snakes and ladders.
Andrew: Are you playing alone?
Carla: Well, not today. But you can play it by yourself. Today, I’m playing against ten players.
Andrew: Ten players? How do you do it?
Carla: I roll the dice and wait my turn. Then, I move through the squares. Look! Now I rolled five, so I must move five squares.
Andrew: Be careful! There’s a snake there.
Carla: Yeah, that snake’s long. Nobody wants to land on that square.
Andrew: Oh, you rolled six.
Carla: Yes, and that means I can roll one more time. Yes! I got five! That means I can move eleven squares.
Andrew: Too bad! There’s a long snake there – after eleven squares.
Carla: Oh no! Bad luck!
Andrew: That player called ‘Horse 2020’ is going to win. I’m sure.
Carla: Wait for it! There’s a very long snake at the last square.
Andrew: Oh! He was unlucky too!
