SOME ADVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

SOME ADVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

I certainly know that you often have people around you who keep giving advice on how to deal with problems or how to be “a good student”. And I definitely know that you don’t like listening to such people. When I was a teenager, I used to hate listening to advice. Surprisingly, most of them turned out to be true! I love asking for advice now. I know that if the advice I get is practical, helpful and wise, then it will definitely help me. Therefore, I made a list of advice I would give to a young person if I was ever asked:
1. Be kind and nice to people. Life is like a mirror. If you do good things, it will give you good things. If you help people in need, life will give you a hand when you are in need.
2. Make new friends. Old friends are a very important part of our lives, but you should always have the time and energy to make new ones. You will learn new things from each new friend you make.
3. When you feel depressed, upset or angry, talk to somebody –parents, a friend, a teacher, etc. Believe me, there are so many people who care about you. Talking to them will help you solve your problem. At least, they will somehow comfort you.
4. Use your time effectively. I know you like spending time on the internet but you should also spend some time on your hobbies. Everyone is interested in something. Find out what you are interested in and go for it. If you like music, learn to play an instrument or get involved in a music band. If you like cars, attend go-cart races. Whether it’s this or that, find something you enjoy doing. The time you spend for your hobby will be priceless.
5. Do or play sports and stay away from harmful addictions. If you are healthy, you will enjoy life more. You will have energy to have fun and do well at school, at work and in your social life.
6. You might feel that everything goes wrong and nothing would help to make it better. At such moments, take a deep breath, close your eyes and dream about the future you want for yourself. Visualize it. Believe that it’s there. Stand up and do something for it. For example, if you want to be a graphic designer in the future, surf the net to read about successful designers. You will feel excited and forget about the problems that bring you down. To be more precise, I’d say “Stay away from negative thoughts.
