Spend, Spend, Spend

Spend, Spend, Spend

University students don’t typically have a lot of money to spend. It is usually their first time living away from home and they must learn how to support themselves. This means that they need to learn how to cook their own food, wash their own clothes, clean and tidy their room or flat, and pay their own bills and rent.

This can be a steep learning curve for many. A lot of kids these days are used to having their parents do everything for them. Some students excel at looking after themselves though. Nearly all students who live away from home enjoy the freedom they now have, and find a way to manage their responsibilities.

Most of a student’s money goes on basic things like accommodation, bills, food and books. However, students also tend to enjoy a lively social life in their first year of university, so they usually spend the rest of their money on going out with their friends and socialising.

Not all students have to go through this learning curve. Some students stay at home while they are studying, and others have enough money to not have to worry about where it is coming from. Children from wealthy families usually attend expensive universities which are located in more expensive cities. The lower-income cities have universities that are more affordable and offer a more viable alternative for the majority of people. Students can get a loan from the Student Loans Company if they need help. It is hard to work while you are at university, but many people do this and still succeed.
